But does a fun cute movie need to be remade?
That's all Mr. & Mrs smith was.
shareThis isn't a remake. Other than them being spies and their name is smith, it actually doesn't have much in common with the movie.
The premise is significantly different here.
Thank You.
I could tell by watching the trailer the this was in no way like the movie and I hate when TV shows do that.
Just call it something else.
TECHNICALLY IT IS A REMAKE...THUS THE SPY STUFF AND THE SMITH NAME...MAN AND WOMAN LEADS...THEY JUST REWORKED IT MAJORLY...THEY COULD GIVE IT A NEW NAME...BUT THEN EVERYBODY WOULD BE COMPLAINING THEY TRIED TO SNEAK A REMAKE OR SOME SUCH SHIT.
shareGotta disagree here, as I don't even think it technically qualifies as a remake.
If they didn't have the name Smith and this was released as a husband and wife spy team show with a different name, we'd probably be saying it's a ripoff of The Americans rather than Mr and Ms smith.
They weren't a team in that film. They were two spies who were married and didn't know what the other did, and the entire plot revolves around them discovering each others truth. This show is about two strangers who work for some spy company who have to role play as husband and wife and them going on various missions.
THEY STARTED THE PROJECT AS A REMAKE/REIMAGINING...THUS THE TITLE...THEY HAVE STRAYED FAR FROM THE SOURCE MATERIAL THOUGH...SO PERHAPS REMAKE IS INCORRECT.
shareAre you somehow unaware that there was a TV show *before* the movie, and that this series is MUCH more like the show than the movie?
Yikes.
I AM FULLY AWARE...BUT FEW EVEN KNOW OF THE SHOW AND IT ONLY CONFUSES THE "ISSUE"
shareYOU are confusing the issue, when you claim "they started the project as a remake/reimagining" of the movie. And "strayed far from the source material."
Statements like this are Exactly Wrong: the fact of the matter is, the "source material" is NOT the movie. It's (clearly) the TV show. The only one fomenting confusion is you.
Do better.
NOTICE I DID NOT SAY "OF THE MOVIE"....YOU ADDED THAT ON THE END...THE MOVIE IS A REMAKE OF THE SHOW AND THE NEW SHOW IS AN AMALGAM OF THE TWO.
COOL NAME BY THE WAY.Â
Umm. . .no. Your post is part of a discussion that Clearly is complaining that this show is a rip-off of the *Movie.* You can try and claim that You are talking about the TV show now that you've been (gently) corrected, but even if that were true, it just points out even More confusion that you're adding to the discussion.
PS: the movie is *not* a remake of the show.
PPS: Take the loss. . .move on. It happens.
HEY CHONGO....TRY GROWING UP JUST A WEE LITTLE BIT...PLEASE...I DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT REMAKES...I ENJOY MOST OF THEM...I KNOW WHAT A REMAKE IS AND I KNOW ABOUT THE SHOW...YOUR SILLY TAKING A LOSS AND MOVING ON COMMENTS ARE FUNNY...BUT PATHETIC AND UNNEEDED...LOTS OF LOVE ANYWAY,BABE.

Hey wrongo: glad you're amused, but I'm really not invested much. You continue to argue (read: "complain") when you're simply Wrong. Shrug. Not unusual. . .this Is the internet.
shareJUST SHOOTING THE SHIT WITH YA....NO REASON TO BE TESTY....YOU KNOW...LIKE BALLS....JOKING....ANYWAY....WHATS UP?...HOW ARE YOU?....WHAT ARE YOUR TOP FIVE FAVORITE MOVIES?
shareNo without big stars.
shareNOT EVERY MOVIE NEEDS "BIG STARS"...HOWEVER THAT IS QUALIFIED.
shareThis movie need big stars because they go around the magical dynamics between the bigger than life actors. As I said earlier, without that, it's not a real remake.
shareTHIS SHOW IS MORE A FIFF ON THE SHOW FROM THE 90S...THE MOVIE STANDS AS IT'S OWN THING REALLY...IF THIS WAS A REMAKE OF THE MOVIE...I TOTALLY GET WHAT YOU ARE SAYING.
shareThe movie was also a remake. This, actually, has more in common with the original, than the movie.
shareWhite Erasure is real, y'all.
