Anyone watching this?
Personally I don't do weekly watches any more so I'm waiting for it to finish then I'll binge watch it.

shareTrying to, but it’s very strange story and hard to follow. I never heard of numbers running. What is that? The show just assumes the viewer knows what that is.
shareNumbers is one of the oldest organized crime rackets. It’s like the lottery, you pick a few numbers and hope they match. The thing that made it seem honest is that the winning numbers were meant to come from a public source that couldn’t be rigged. Needless to say, it was frequently rigged in some way or other.
Very popular among poor and blue collar because it could be played with very small bets. It also employed, in a manner of speaking, a lot of freelancers who collected bets to organized crime.
It was a major revenue source for organized crime. Much of the rationale behind public lotteries was targeted at eliminating this income stream for the mob.
That was interesting info. Thanks for explaining.
shareLove your articulate response.
