Yep. All you need to know, and even this is not critical, is that the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill family are Kevin Costner's character's ancestors. They started the ranch he runs in Yellowstone.

Yes - the connection to Yellowstone has no bearing on the basic plot. I think they just hyped it as part of the Yellowstone universe for marketing
