"the Emperor died?" "that's what they say"

I see what Disney is doing. They're going to try to build up a myth in new stories set after Return of the Jedi, like a Voldemort/Sauron "Is he really gone thing?" I bet we'll hear similar lines in future series. That way, it's out there more, so that down the road, new audiences who are first discovering Star Wars (and have no one older and wiser to guide them), it won't feel so forced when the Emperor is randomly alive in Episode IX. It'll feel more organic, they won't question it. Because who knows what order they'll watch in. Because eventually, there will be a new generation of viewers who won't know the franchise's history as well, so the difference between the George Lucas Era v the Disney Era won't be as noticed.

The Emperor died and literally blow'd up real good. The End.

J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson's abortion, also known as the "Star Wars" sequels, were wretched.

And, "Ahsoka" is truly awful. Just unimaginably terrible. Dave Filoni just can't write nor direct worth a damn. What a complete trainwreck. Sleep inducing drivel.

I picked up on that right off. It's the right thing to do. First off, it really would be rumor for most folks in the galaxy. All the events of the OT would. Just stories being passed around. Myths and legends and hope hammered dreams. But for sake of continuing this franchise, it's just as you say. You have to keep layering new history around the jarring bits that don't make a lick of sense until it all jells into something serviceable. Us old fans will always think it's stupid but the money train will keep rolling. Eventually they'll even shore up Rey to the point where her character makes sense by putting in all the back and side story they should have in the first place. A properly made Darth Plagueis adaption could still make Palpatine's return and whatever the hell he was doing on Exegol make total sense. Despite the state of things, ain't nothing so bad it can't still be fixed.

Why would it be a "myth"? The Emperor was missing presumed dead after Endor. Officially. Not officially dead. Officially "presumed".
