Hibernation Pod's EMERGENCY OPERATING MANUAL

...but they're FAIL-SAFE!?

Jim goes to work trying to remedy his bad luck and finds a series of manuals. The movie drills it into your head that these hibernation pods NEVER breakdown. These pod failures simply always work they way they should.

Sooo why is there an Emergency Operating Manual??? Under that it reads, "In Case of Critical Systems Failure". Huh??? What critical systems failure? They're fail-safe!

I looked ahead and didn't see any posts about this, so I apologize if it's already been mentioned.

Came here to say the same thing.

There may have been a thread about this in IMDB days, but the "failure-proof" thing can be excused as corporate propaganda, just like Jim's reasons for relocating. The company just claims its pods are foolproof to justify keeping the hibernation process secret.

Remember, Titanic was un unsinkable.. Before it hit an iceberg!

But why would there be an emergency operating MANUAL? I mean what would it say inside??

This thread kinda missed what happened in the movie. The pod didn't break or break down. The ship was hit with debris causing various systems to stop working. Since the manual reads "in case of critical systems failure," its possible the company understood one of the systems outside of the pod could lead to pod failure.

They were advertised as fail-safe!

Big difference from actually being safe.

Call it irony

reply

Well nothing is 100% so even if its 99% a manual is not a bad idea.
