They have some fun with the plot. Foul-mouthed. A fair amount of edgy material for a lightweight teen movie. The lead protagonists are surprisingly very toxic. They make Regina George look like Andie from Pretty in Pink (but that's why this movie is so entertaining).
The soundtrack is a mix of new stuff and 90s hits.

Exactly. The remake of Eleanor was derived from the Jawbreakers Fern character. Mean Girls too w all the leaking of secrets and conniving friends.
