Why isn't "Easy A" as memorable as Clueless, Heathers or Mean Girls?
"Easy A" was marketed as the next teen classic of the 2010s, but barely anyone remembers it compared to Heathers, Mean Girls and Jawbreaker.

It gets weaker toward the end. I enjoyed this film but it seems out of sync with the times even 10 years ago. The film uses issues of slut shaming, “easy” women, teacher/student relationships to create comedy like a raunchy ‘80s teen flick. Emma’s character and her woke family seem like they were time travelled back to the 80s.

It's got everything Mean Girls has. Incredibly quotable lines ("i thought i was gonna have to spend my dowry on booze and pills to numb the loneliness"). Great chemistry among all the actors. A surprisingly nuanced performance from the leading lady, Emma Stone, considering the nature of the movie across from a great turn as the villain for Amanda Bynes.share
The story is engaging if a little predictable but the movie isn't trying to be Citizen Kane; it's trying to be an 80s style romp and I think it does exactly that.
I think it missed it's time. The films mentioned by OP were all in the 90's. And when I watched Easy A I got a 80's/90's vibe from it that was cool for me but perhaps not so much for younger people. Another great film which also has an 80's vibe is Dirty Girl from 2010 also very over looked.
