This show was so overrated.

Might have been one of the most gimmicky, boring shows I've ever watched.

Yeah I'm struggling to get through season one. Maybe it's just for Americans.

reply

Well I'm Australian and absolutely love the show. So you're a bit wrong there. Also season 2 is where it really gets good.

reply

I watched the whole show at the time of it's airing, and yes it gets better in season 2, but even then and after that throughout the whole show I think it's generally boring and overrated. The writing and acting is nowhere near as sharp, precise, and funny as say a 30 Rock was.

Well, I thought "Parks and Recreation" was great and I didn't care much for "30 Rock" but if you say "30 Rock" was better than I guess we're all just wrong. Tell me what else I'm supposed to like and not like, please.

reply

Why did you watch the entire series (aka "the whole show") if you didn't like it? I always find it amusing when people do that. Says a lot about them and what they have going on in their lives.

reply

Never said I didn't like it, jackass. I said it was overrated and consistently boring. I was a fan of Amy Poehler at the time.

Hmm I dont remember it being hugely popular. Popular yes, but a lot of people I know never watched it.

I started watching this recently after finally giving in to years of nagging from friends and I had the exact same feeling throughout season one but I stuck with it and I have to say I'm really glad that I did. It greatly improves, especially after certain characters leave and others are introduced.

Personally as a Brit, I definitely don't believe that this is just for Americans, I'd recommend getting through the first season and see how you get on with the second, for me it felt like a very different show.

reply

As a fellow Brit I endorse this post.

That said, it did falter from season 5 onwards, and I found the episodes fawning over US sports stars and politicians completely baffling as I had no idea who most of them were.

Agreed. I think around the Greg Pikitis episode is where I got hooked.

reply

Season one was not very good; fortunately it only lasted six episodes, and the show was significantly reworked for the second season. After that it was consistently great, or at least near-great.

Well, I'm asian and I loved it. My whole family even started watching it when they saw it from me.

reply

If you think this show is gimmicky you've certainly not seen many TV shows or movies..and quality post on a show that's been over for almost 2 years.

reply

i'm re-watching it again and yeah 1st season is bad, but from seasons 2,3,4,5 are really funny, i don't intend to watch last 2 seasons because to me its depressing, its funny and all but i don't want to watch it all end again, but humor wise, this show is *beep* hilarious at times

reply

How dare you??!!

reply

I like it. Of what I've seen (up to season 6), it's much better than the office

reply

I can accept that. Actually it barely got renewed every year, and if it were on another network besides NBC, it would have been cancelled after the first season, FOX would have cancelled it after the first showing.

I loved it, and it was one of my favorite TV shows of all time and I still periodically watch a few episodes. The last season started to wane and it got really pretentious and it stopped when it was supposed to stop.

Not everyone likes everything. There are lots of high rated and legendary shows that I wouldnt watch five minutes of without wanting to shoot the television.
