It's very talky
There is far too much speechifying where everything stops - then there is a little cheer, then on they go again. I don't think it was ever going to be as good as the first one and the stop-speech-start kills the pace.
shareThey clearly didn't have a lot of good ideas for an actual story here, which I think is a shame because the idea of seeing other conflicts between Persia and Greece is cool. 300: Rise of an Empire is one of the only "Mid-quels" I know of. The Lion King 1 1/2 is the only other one that springs to mind. Creating a follow-up film that isn't a prequel or sequel is cool, and I wish they'd exploited that better.
