People hate this film because it had a story line

Most horror fans of today HATE storylines in horror films. I, for one, really like a good story line in horror.

Today's horror fans want to see nothing but a ton of blood, gore, pain, and torture. That's why they like the Saw series. It's a guy who kidnaps people and tortures them... he gets away with it... and then does it again to more people in the next film. And people only like it cuz of all the blood and torture. That's it.

A lot of people hated this movie because it had an actual story line.

The story line was terrible - what was the purpose of the 'twist'? The evil kid was already killing people just fine without the mouth laces cut - it wasn't really anything.

Lots of people like horror films that have good storylines... This was NOT a good storyline.

"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!"

Movies like this should stay on Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel.

The story was ripped off from an episode of Supernatural, same twist and everything.

Which episode?

The Real Ghostbusters

Read the synopsis on the episode. Very similar indeed. The movie's plot is also very similar to The Ring.

Not only did the SAW series have an actual plot, it was much more interesting than this one, with multi-dimensional characters and philosophical issues to boot. This isn't the worst movie that I've ever seen, not that I think it is particularly great, but if you want to use a pointless torture-horror comparison, I think Hostel would be a better choice.

reply

On the one hand, HA HA HA. This was a generic, no surprises story. whereas the Saw series actually put thought to mortality, what it takes and what one is willing to do to survive. this was a lame story with nowhere interesting to go

reply

Yeah, I'm convinced that most of the people that use SAW as an example of "all shock and no substance" haven't actually watched SAW....

reply

So...what's on the other hand? Usually when you say "on the one hand," you follow it up with something that makes an opposing or contradictory point.

reply

No I hated it because it was a boring cliche film.

You are joking right?

People hate this film because it has no atmosphere. It is incoherent and stupid to a point to where the movie doesn't make common sense.

Want to see a great movie with a great storyline with an actual atmosphere that follows it's own set rules of horror reality? Go watch the Conjuring series', or insidious. Those films are directed by the same guy who created SAW and he's known as somewhat of a horror film genius.

Enjoy an actual great horror film, you are welcome.

I mean, at least Ouija had a Ouija Board, unlike The Conjuring, in which nothing was conjured.
