Bad, by any standards!

This movie is bad, no matter how you try to see it.

I'm not a popcorn movie lover, but this fart is an insult to movie-making.

Don't try to read anything else about it and don't try to make make sense or see any connecting dots. It's just a sad backgammon by two decrepit old men: Jarmusch and Doyle -- far from their past glory.

The main character is a clown - trying to play cool guy but when he talks he sounds like a duck and with that monkey face, the repeating lines are obnoxious, the anti-establishment note is cartoonish, the sets are cheap, the women are trashy.

No need to elaborate further, it left me with a sour taste - just move over this crap.

agree..

I would be tempted to believe that it could be an acquired taste, (surely there are many movies and directors that you have to get acustumed to like), but in this particular case I really find it hard to believe that it is so.

In any case if I could use sex as analogy, then it would be the worst 2 hours spent watching someone masturbate and not even satisfy themselves.
because thats what is is here...
minimalistic minimalism of mental masturbation... yeah i liked the view from the window of the train, but gues what - i can see them every day in real life too.
does it have to be a movie for people who never go out anymore?
or for those who are genuainly bored with life and need some overdifficult pretensious mental stimulation to be (close to) satisfied?
i dont know

maybe i should have smoked a joint before watching :)

Bump for this thread. I totally agree with the original post:

Limits of Control is a piece of crap. The main character sucks and is not developed at all. The dialogue is atrocious, whenever there is any, and the long takes of the main character doing tai chi and walking around are totally pointless and a waste of film. Oh, but I guess this is all part of the "art, man, like it's so existential dude". Yeah, pass the bong to me because maybe then I'll think Limits of Control is "a surreal piece of art film making masterpiece"....although I doubt all the weed in the world would help make any sense of this turd bomb film.

I liked Jarmusch's film "Dead Man" and I was expecting something quirky and surreal but still has a story behind it. You won't get anything after 2 hours of viewing Limits of Control. Really sad.

Regarding Jarmusch being an acquired taste, I agree; but his films have been on the decline for a while now. I loved Stranger than Paradise & Down by Law, but this is just terrible. It's lazy and pointless. You can look at it like Zen (if you want) & just stare at the screen - I just expect a little more....
