Typical Liberal mom?

'She is so entitled that she barely acknowledges the kindness of strangers, steals an expensive cardigan, expects financial breaks on everything she encounters in her path: child care, rent, her car, a stranger at a gas pump you name it along with abusing a loving couple who take her in out of kindness at a reduced rent.'

Bad decisions in life and expects the handouts as she winds her life path forward not holding any real self-responsibilities of her actions.

Show was stellar, but in terms of character, the moment she returned to that douchebag Sean, and the cold way she treated Nate despite all his help, i lost all respect for her.

It was one bad decision after another

reply

Nate wanted her to be his love interest, when what she really needed is an friend

reply

Yes, but the night she spent screwing Sean when Nate was taking care of Maddie, well, what a shitty way to treat a friend

Not to mention she didn't take up Regina's offer for a place to stay, instead she thought it wiser to take up a spot in a shelter that could have been used by someone with no alternative options.

She’s an idiot who doesn’t seem to realize that she makes really stupid decisions. She’s in a constant daze and thinks this stuff just happens to her. It’s a horrible show.

I also was a bit surprised at how she expected help with absolutely everything. The words “personal responsibility” clearly were not part of her vocabulary.
But I enjoyed the show nevertheless.

I think that actually made the character and the story much more realistic. She was obviously abrassive, naive, entitled, co-dependent, and many more negatives. But she was also a caring mother, hard-working, intelligent, generous, and many more positives.

And that's what all of us, real people, are – a combination of good and bad. Don't forget that she had a very dysfunctional upbringing and family. Same as Sean, who was also, thankfully, a more complex character than just your typical one-dimensional cardboard abuser. In fact, one of my favourite scenes was when Sean tells her that they're family and they belong together because they both come from the same hell. Which is kinda the point.

The series is not about an angel trapped in Hell fighting the demons around her – that would've been boring, preachy and, frankly, unrealistic. It's about real damaged humans all fighting their own demons and trying hard to break the long and old chain of abuse that made them all prisoners to their faults.

I absolutely agree , you nailed perfectly the message of this show , which was amazing btw.

reply

Very insightful and I agree.... Although I loved Regina and she really should have taken her up on her offer.

reply

It's very frustrating to see her blow every lucky breaks she gets.
