I also like how they made fun of moderates and those that keep saying we should respect both points of views as ridiculous as one side may be.

SPOILERS!

The actor that has a tag embracing “Look up!” and “Don’t look up!” saying there is space for everyone was a parody of moderate or apolitical people that spout the idiocy of both sides being the same as if that makes them look cool or woke.

The same goes to the reporter that said she is tired of the politics.

That was one gag in the whole movie. Mostly this was a direct broadside against the Right, which they are in denial abougt cause it made them laugh.

It definitely is brilliant how anyone watching the film will see the “idiot” characters as being the opposite of their political leanings. I have had friends who said Streep’s character is “obviously supposed to be Trump” and others who have said “she is spot on as Hillary Clinton.” I see the characters as an amalgamation of the ills of all politicians regardless of party affiliation.

It’s exactly this! They’re all amalgamations of famous people. Like the tech guy has traits of Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Tim Cook, and Mark Zuckerberg. Even has some traits of Joe Biden. Anyone who’s seen this as just the “other side” is clearly some hard-leaning politico who thinks their chosen side is above reproach.

It's makes me laugh to tears to see Conservatives trying to spin this movie as being a parody on the Left, or on both sides ... the whole denial of science rests squarely on the Right and it has for generations.

The anal power tripping of the President's son, and the General's middle finger to the people who are smarter than he. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Trump ....

Who else would play "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" at a global event to save the world?

And there has never been a Presidents son or daughter that was in the, ugly, picture as much as Don Jr.

It just is the truth. Sorry Righties.

Yes in that regard it was poking fun of the right. But the overtly cheery morning show hosts were a jab at shows like Morning Joe, The Today Show, and Good Morning America. Those are shows full of happy liberals.

Dude, I’m a liberal and know the left can be just as comical as the right. Case in point, the way you’re just seen so angry that someone is even mentioning the idea that liberals are the butt of the joke.

Thanks for posting this. I may actually watch. I observed the same phenomenon with Demolition Man. Each side claiming "this is the type of society [the other side] wants." People get blinded by their own echo chamber.

I'll give this one a go.
