That's insane punishment
I mean the little boy stole something I think? So he goes to hell? This girl refuses a loan that she should never have given and gets sent to hell
Wow no middle ground here eh

It is a curse after all.
shareNO! It's totally ridiculous. BTW, the punishments DON'T fit the crimes, thus it makes the entire system of Heaven and Hell look idiotic. If the filmmaker's goal was to mock the entire belief in a Heaven or Hell, it 'might' make sense.
This makes going to Hell purely arbitrary and subject to the whims of crazy human beings (like that Gypsy woman).
Think about it. GOD is supposed to cast judgement on us for our sins, NOT some dumb a** Gypsy lady. Who gave HER the authority for ultimate judgement?
This story takes the entire concept of sin and accountability (in the context of the Judeo/Christian concepts of God and the Devil) and throws it out the window.
Why do you think in real life, people hate religious extremist/fanatics who say that people will burn in Hell who are innocent or are guilty of trivial offenses? Other than distorting what most church orthodoxy says, it also makes no sense.
Dr. Kila Marr was right. Kill the Crystalline Entity.share
Curses like this are pretty harsh, and uncalled for. i hated her character, and her hate towards Chris. Her granddaughter was a real lady part as well if you get my drift. I'm not sure if Raimi wanted us to care for her, or hate her. He did a good job w/ that part there/

Graham Hess: There is no one looking out for us. We are all alone.
Yes! pretty extreme in both cases, I mean jeez..
shareMost likely an illegal with his illegal alien family, just going to be another gang banger. Thanks for saving innocent people from his future criminal acts.
shareI've just finally watched this for the first time. Read the film was supposed to be a morality tale and I kind of get it but its very flawed.
Yes the lead could have give her an extension on her loan and admits this at the end. However the gypsy had had multiple extensions. Yes being bankrupt and homeless is never nice but is it the fault of the worker in the bank who is technically just doing their job and could possibly lose their job if they did the wrong thing.
Also the way the gypsy acted was very wrong. Considering she was ill she seemed very strong in the car scene. A lot claim its not her but it is because she hadn't put the curse on her yet.
I feel until she killed the cat the lead was likeable and I feel like they maybe should have made her less likeable for the message to work
