I think PTA is losing it, his movies and becoming too insular and hermetic, geared only toward his rapidly dwindling audience of aging LA hipsters in their 50s, in the same way Boogie Nights and Magnolia were for LA hipsters who were then in their 30s. He's not expanding, he's so in his bubble that he actually made the kid a child actor to make it even more closed off lol. I fear he's going to keep making movies like this until death. At least it was better than Inherent Vice
