PC In The DC Universe!

Changing Lex Luther to a Black Man! I suppose it’s to be expected. Perry White was changed to a Black man in two movies. He was played by a brilliant actor who happens to be Black, Laurence Fishburne. One of my favorite actors, but he’s not Perry White. I’m waiting for a Black Superman! There are ways to give prominent roles to Blacks without changing the original characters.

Then this actress who plays Lois...I didn’t like her in “Grimm” and I sure don’t like her as Lois! The script is becoming too PC with her fighting a developer over a living wage. I see that on the news. I don’t need to see a crossover into one of my favorite DC Universe characters. The younger brother, I can’t tell if he’s a he or a she.

reply

But is it Lex Luthor? Lex is human and rich.

This Luthor is alien (or rather from a parallel universe - which would make it ok to be black).

reply

You may have something there. Good thinking! It’s a way for “Luther” to be Black which is what I wrote about. Don’t change the original characters...introduce new prominent ones. We shall see...

reply

He said that Superman destroyed his planet and that he will do the same to this one.

So i assume he is from a parallel Earth. And maybe a good Lex, not the regular evil one.

And maybe that we will get to see an evil Superman from his universe ;)

reply

Oh no! Not the parallel universe storyline again! Frankly, imo that is so old, but it does explain what we viewed at the end of the 2nd episode. I’m just now starting to watch Ep. 3. Also, if what you surmise is the storyline about a good Lex...he’s still Black...and that is changing the character.

I don’t believe we will ever see a White Panther and I hope we don’t. So sad, the actor who played him, Chadwick Boseman, in the MC Universe died. I definitely liked him.

reply

You were correct...the same old “parallel universe” thingy! I was also correct in writing it’s going to be too pc for me. And, no it’s not ok for Lex Luther to be Black...it’s a “parallel universe”. Also, I’m so over the teen angst. I’ve watched my last episode of “Superman & Lois”. I’m going back to my binge watching the MCU in Timeline Order on Disney+. I got 6 mo free with my new iPhone. (Really not free with the cost of the iPhone!)

reply

Brad Pitt should play MLK

reply

😅🤣😂 Perfect reply!👏👏

reply

MLK was a real person. This is like Brad Pitt playing a new version of Killmonger in a "Black Panther" production. For me, that's not a biggie.

reply

Exactly. Big difference.

reply

Black Superman is ok, black Clark Kent is not.

reply

Black Superman is not OK. Clark Kent is White...therefore so is Superman. Superman has been White for decades. This is how he was created. I’m sorry, but facts are facts. There are so many ways to introduce Black heroic figures into the DC genre. One was a Green Lantern. There are more ways. MCU created a great Black hero...the Black Panther. Sadly, a well liked actor, Chadwick Bosemen will no longer play the Black Panther. So young to succumb from cancer. His shoes are going to be hard to fill.

Edited to correct error.

reply

Agreed, instead of changing well-established characters, like portraying Hikaru Sulu suddenly gay, or turn a white character black, why not create new characters? But this is Hollywood, I hope they don't touch Clark Kent's well-known story, but rather introduce a new, black character who happens to become Superman.. somehow.

reply

Aware of how the PC crowd is working today, I expect a change with Clark Kent’s parents. They will suddenly become a mixed race couple! One will gradually begin to darken from this 💁🏼‍♀️ to this 💁🏽‍♀️ to this 💁🏾‍♀️ to this 💁🏿‍♀️... and all will be right with the world...it is SciFi

Perry White could stay White, but he could have a Black child, a Perry White, Jr. to take over the Daily Planet.

I just wish they would leave the originals alone and build off of them in order to be more inclusive.

You realize that Stan Lee had nothing to do with creating Superman, do you not. Stan was 16 when Superman first appeared. Nor did he ever work on him. Lee is responsible, to one degree or another, for Fantastic Four, Spiderman, X-Men and so forth, all of whom appeared in the early sixties. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster. Granted, they weren't much older than Stan, but they were working in the comics and Stan didn't get hired by Timely Comics (a different company) until 1939 and he was mostly a gopher at that time.

reply

You are correct! I goofed big time! Thanks for pointing out the error. I had MCU on my mind.

reply

No problem. With so many great writers and artists and so much history it isn't hard to mix people up.

reply

Have we ever seen black Kriptonians in the movies??

reply

They've been in the comics since the early 70s.

reply

I think i specified "in the movies" ...

reply

Not yet. Only on TV.

reply

I see no signs of wokeness on this show so far.

reply

And you'll see no signs of the idiots who predicted it, either. So it goes. . .
