I WOULD have watched this if it was filmed in color

...instead of grey. And if Anya Joy was replaced by a better looking actress who's eyes aren't way too far apart.

Judging from the trailer, the grey tone isn't ever-present. Some scenes seem to have more vibrant colours than others, but the "gritty" scenes do seem to be afflicted by that irritating grey-tone. I blame Steven Spielberg. He did it with Saving Private Ryan, and for some reason a lot of film makers after that thought it was a good idea. It was never a good idea.

reply

Yeah, even the movie poster is mostly grey. WTF???

reply

Hmmm... In your subject header the word color is the american spelling, yet you spell grey the proper British English way in your comment!

reply

seems to be A24s style. even if you google A24. 5 out of the 8 posters that show up at the top of google are grey

reply

Yeah, it's a strange trend I keep seeing over and over. WTF???

not sure ill have to look more into them and who the directors are. idk is the green knight, lighthouse, the witch and now this film all the same director?

they are beautiful well made films. its nice to see a studio trying and not just releasing pg mass produced cgi filled crap. that has its palace for sure I love the MCU. but its nice to see actual auteurs do their thing with beautiful cinematography, sets ect.

reply

Grey cinematography isn't beautiful though, it's dreary and ugly.

reply

It did work well for the movie The Lighthouse

reply

depends what you are going for. it kinda suited the witch and the lighthouse. I didnt finish green knight maybe I will today. like anything it can be overused but can also serve a purpose.

reply

Disappointing.

I was really looking forward to this film but I feel this 300 style color scheme may somewhat spoil the realistic, immersive feel I was hoping for...

reply

Well ... it's quite realistic given the seasons and the weather ...

Portland looks like that 8 months a year ...

reply

makes sense plus this is northern Europe with less sunlight
