When did people started to hate this????

I don't get it why? I used to like it. I wasn't a crazy fan. Actually, i never found Edward nor Jacob to be attractive. Maybe that's why!
Maybe, when you start fangirling over a movie, it ends up like this. A sh***y chick flick. What is your reason??

When people starting tearing apart the series on how the vampires were lame or too powerful, how Bella was a lousy role model, how Edward was creepy, stalking and abusive, how their relationship was unhealthy and codependent, how the writing was terrible, how the movies turned out. Seriously, the list does go on.

I would always rather be happy than dignified. 

I still love Twilight. And I was against it before I read it. My post is toward the people that hate it. My reasoning is lots of people hate Twilight because (beside the bad writing) it is a bit mushy and many people have never experienced a love like this. The story does a good job in showing how lovelorn and brooding Bella is and I believe many people just couldn't stand her behavior. Bella seemed weak to them. But I have had many lovelorn experiences and I am empathic so I understand deeper feelings and I understand Bella. But I love the whole story. I love fantasy, adventure and romance and I think many people just don't like the story and the characters. Diversity is good amongst humans and not everyone will always love Twilight. I am in my forties, but my own mother loved the 50 Shades of Grey book. I cannot stand it. I prefer Twilight, Outlander, Game of Thrones, etc...To each his own I guess...

I started hating this as soon as my daughter told me to. In fact, she threatened me.

Then she realized that she didn't need to threaten - after all, she is my daughter and some qualities are genetic.

Then I executed an online search and discovered that this genre actually has a name - abstinence porn.

Then I understood why I hated it without ever seeing any of it (or reading any of the novels).

Then I felt gratified that I had a daughter who cared enough to threaten me.

I don't really care for the franchise anymore. When I first watched the movie, I watched it about five or six times but as Jacob became my favorite character, I started to dislike the movie because of how his character was treated and because I was getting annoyed with Bella and Edward.

Stephenie Meyer talks ‘Life and Death,’ future ‘Twilight’ spinoffs, and Hogwarts Houses

http://www.hypable.com/stephenie-meyer-life-and-death-jacob-renesmee-interview/

Hypable sat down with [Stephenie Meyer] to discuss Life and Death’s release, fandom, and what other Twilight books she may publish in the future. Jacob and Renesmee fans should prepare themselves for some cool news!

... ... ... ... ...

Q:
If you were to write about another character in the Twilight world, who would it be?

SM:
I think if I was really going to do it it would be Renesmee. And Leah. Those are the two most unresolved characters. If I was going to do it — if it wasn’t for my enjoyment — the fans would want Alice I think. That would be the one they definitely would want to have.

... ... ... ... ...

Q:
Getting back to Renesmee, a lot of fans post-Breaking Dawn want to know what happened with Renesmee and Jacob.

SM:
And that would be the story, if I went there. If I went on with it. So I’m not going to tell you on the off chance that I do.

Q:
Have you given that thought? Has your mind gone that way?

SM:
Oh yeah, there’s an outline. There’s several chapters written. It was something that I was working on before Breaking Dawn came out.

I think they could have done something good with the lore. They had Nearly indestructible vampires that can go around unnoticed. Add that a bunch of them have X-men type powers, and their main enemy is Shape Shifting Spirit warriors.

They even have royalty and laws within the vampire culture. This could have been really interesting but we are shown how beautiful Bella thinks vampires are, and how good Jacob looks with his shirt off.

Oh, the hate started at the beginning, mostly with hardcore vampire fans, particularly those who follow the Anne Rice franchise.

That, and a lot of older readers/movie viewers disliked how emotionless and wooden Bella was, and couldn't understand how anyone could fall in love with a creepy stalker who drank blood.

My brother was put off by the the fact that he thinks all vampires should have traditional traits, such as burning up in sunlight.

I wasn't originally a huge fan of this series, partially because the posters put me off (I mean, who wants to drool over a guy who looks like he's ready to beat the shit out of you, while the girl he's with looks like she's worried she won't get away fast enough). But I gave it a chance, and found that I liked the supporting characters and the vampire lore more so than the lead characters. The books were better than the movies, to be honest.

The teenage vampire fad just ran its course and ended. Few, if any, miss it.
