Can a TV show be considered, “Insufferable”??

Because *my god* this show is so tedious and full of itself. I feel like I’ve been watching it for 10 years and I’m only on ep 8. They could’ve easily tied up this show after episode 5. I swear they are adding episodes in as I watch.

reply

nope, just change the channel. let someone else suffer it.

reply

Yes this is exactly how I felt watching it.

I suppose to each their own. 🤷 I consider both Hill House and Bly Manor the best horror series ever made, although I do wish Bly Manor was longer for better character and plot development.

reply

Longer...longer??? Good heavens. Hill House was comfortably up there with the good ones like AHS, Penny Dreadful, The Terror, Bates, Stranger Things (S1) etc . But "Bly" isn't even in the running; pure drudgery. A slog.

In my personal opinion the writing in the series didn't quite work precisely because there just wasn't enough "real estate" to develop certain ideas.

But like I said, to each their own - you don't have to like the show!

I'll be honest....I really cant imagine this being anything but a troll thread...

Its simply doesnt make sense, In fact, If This isnt a troll thread, The Only conclusion one could come to from reading this thread is that The OP is an idiot who enjoys suffering....

so here we go...

reasons why IMO this has to be a troll thread.

reason 1...While I get everyone has their own opinions, The Hate here for the show seems to be very EXCESSIVE...

Bly Manor is a universal praised tv series that has received excellent reviews and Good to great rating on most sites...

I can completely understand some people "Not Liking it" or "having problems with it"...But The OP's level hated for the film just doesnt seem to exist anywhere.....

Reason 2.....Who Hates A MOVIE or TV SERIES this much, Literally calls it "Insufferable" and Then Literally continues to "Suffer" for 8 more hours and basically watches the entire Series...

It does not make logical sense to Hate The show as much as The OP claims and continue to watch 8 more hours of footage.....

I could Maybe see someone Hating A Show as much as the OP claims and Maybe watch a few more episodes to see if it gets better....but who the hell Hates a show so much They compare it to "suffering" and Then continues to "suffer" hour after hour, episode after episode for 8 more hours...

I think its much more likely The OP is Drastically overstating His hatred for the show in a really bad failed attempt to troll...

The OP probably Just was bored or the show wasnt as good as he expected and it pissed him off so he came here to troll....

reply

People who don't like things aren't automatic trolls, granted I didn't read the whole OP.

Why would I troll about disliking a show? What could I possibly gain from such a silly troll? You know the forum isn't just for fans of it. I watched the whole thing from top to bottom - I gave it that much respect. In the end I disliked it and I said so. That's about the long and short of it.

reply

Anyone who uses today's Leftist critics as an appeal to authority in order to reduce another person's opinion to the trough of trollery has, in essence, reduced their own opinion into little more than written whispers worth fleeting into the wind of the forgotten.

Good day, sir.

reply

I got to about episode 7 maybe. I don't usually throw in the towel, but I just didn't care anymore.

reply

I agree with you. The first few episodes of Bly Manor worked so well as a cozy, creepy gothic mystery but it got really boring and tedious from the Hannah episode. The dream-hopping and tucked in memory thing was annoying and tiring. The last episode was somewhat interesting. I was hoping for a twist and a (somewhat) happy ending, but it was so completely sad.

I fast-forwarded SO.MANY.SCENES. to make it bearable and still it took forever to move the plot along. The pointless dialogues and dream-scenes going again and again and again, it was like we, the audience, were stuck in a purgatory of the showrunners making. Just praying for the sweet release of death.

I just finished watching the series while talking to a friend about it in between episodes. And words like "tedious", "dragging", and "slog" were thrown around quite a lot. I wasn't at all surprised to find a thread like this as the first on this show's board. This was a massive drop in quality compared to the first series. I think it was around episode 4 or 5 when I found myself not at all caring anymore. By the end, I was just watching it to finish it. And, yes, it felt like it was never going to end.
