MASSIVE PLOT HOLE Or Is it?

Do you consider it to be a massive plot hole that once the revolt started and the players started gunning down dozens of the guards, the assistant to the front man announced they should unleash the security guards and dozens more appeared?

I mean, they already had more than enough guards to contain everyone and the backstory is that the Squid Games have been running for years.

So do they just have an extra battalion of guards on standby, sitting around scratching their nuts or whatever because they are expecting to be overrun at some point?

Or is this a MASSIVE plot hole?

Or was it planned for all these guards to be killed as part of the overall entertainment so they needed an extra security detail on this occasion?

I assume the guards work in shifts, so there are several battalions on hand at any given time during the week of the games. They must have at least 4 shifts worth to account for injury, illness, etc. On top of that, they are secretly commandeering an island, so they probably have another 40 or 50 troops on hand in the event that the police show up, especially as they are aware that Hwang In-ho's brother is searching for the island. And lastly, they probably DO have a contingency plan in place in the event that the contestants revolt, and troops on hand in case that takes place.

I wasn't so much viewing it as contingency as such but rather as a deliberate set up to spice things up a bit.

As to other points, I didn't really consider them viable as the games take place over a very limited time once per day. The rest of the time they are confined in their hall. So it's not like that huge number just sitting about kicking their heels was required for Nightshift or anything...

For me, it's somewhere between potential plot hole and a deliberate set up for the enjoyment of the VIPs. Maybe we'll see this revealed to be the case next season...

not a plothole. its obvious the guards outnumber the participents and they are preperd for such stuff. which is why this all was done to highlight gi-hon naivite and stupidity

I don't really mind it but I thought Seong breaking the glass on the main door to easily unlock it from the inside was kinda goofy lol

If you want to talk about contingency, they should have a strong gate/door that the players wouldn't be able to open and then just throw some sleeping gas inside and that's that

Yeah, that's true - I remember when the door was locking them in I thought, "oh well, that's that" but then they just smashed that little window and the massive security door was just held in place on the other side by a sliding bolt!

Also weird for me was when they'd got out and were looking for the way to the control room, they were in that corridor opening all these doors which turned out just to be false doors! Why? They had already broke out and shot their way past a load of guards and made their way to a higher level where they were never meant to be. So why were there all these false doors there?!! 😂

reply

lol yea it's like they went over the top with contingency by building all these false doors and maze-like structures but then didn't care about the most important things. Funny to think about it like that lol
