You spelled stupid wrong not once, but twice. That takes talent.

You people are unbelievable....you've been had by a chaos mongerer and literally almost everyone in here has fallen for the bait. All it took was to play the spelling and insult card and look at some of the responses!! This person can spell quite fine I assure you and most likely doesn't give a you know what about this movie, just look at their other posts on other movies...... they did this on purpose to watch you all freak on it and look at what it has become. It's grown into a pointless typical online bash fest with people trying to one up each other and prove their wit and the best part is when you're responding to the OP you're actually thinking your making a point or "handing" it to them. It's so sad how much of this online social BS goes on, it's so rampant on IMDB and it's so pathetic. Honestly people LOOK at what you're doing!!!!!

I agree. *beep* rip-off. American cinema is no longer satisfied with making their own crap but they have to take other culture's great movies and make crap out of them.

This is not a signature!

Not only that Guinea, but they get rewarded for it like Scorcese with Departed.

They didnt remake is 100% completely, they added some minor things and they took out the whole religious demonic posession part of the story.

Because Hollywood is always politically correct over stuff like religion. Quite sad...which is why I like foreign films...more artistic freedom. It's funny how they copied right down to the white singlet the girl was wearing though...

People saying that the acting in [rec] was bad, have obviously never met any Spanish people. Spaniards do act and talk very much like those in this movie.

And I'm not in any way fluent in Spanish, but I do prefer the original version of a movie, no matter the language, so the one who said that Spanish speaking people prefer [rec] to Quarantine, simply have no idea what he/she is talking about.

A cult being responsible for a rabies-zombie-virus?? yes, that's more believeable than demonic possession (sarcasm).

I'm not religous, but I would take possession over zombies any day.

reply

If [Rec] was released in the U.S how many English speaking Americans would be able to identify a Spaniard's over acting? Not many.

I like both explanations. I don't see why its so awful for a movie script to be bought and used by two different people and the outcomes are similar (Very). Because that is what happened.

If you want to be mad about a remake be made about Let Me In.

At least it isn't a full shot-by-shot remake, they are new and changed bits.
And [Rec] wasn't even released in the US from what I read until after Quarantine was, so they wouldn't have known about it unless they were serious film fans who got imported DVDs and downloaded a lot of movies.

I seriously do not see how this is worse than the original. To be honest they are both mediocre and very overrated but I liked this one better.

People hate this movie BECAUSE it's a remake. There are GOOD remakes out there like The Amityville Horror remake with Ryan Reynolds, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remakes with Jessica Biel, The Departed, Dawn of the Dead 2004, just to name a few. What about John Carpenter's The Thing? THAT's a remake as well, I bet people that saw The Thing from Another World probably did the same thing most of you guys did, rag on it. Give the movie a break, it was a good film, much better than the Elm Street & Friday The 13th remakes, those were GOD-AWFUL!! I thought Jennifer Carpenter did an excellent job displaying fear, that was a very realistic performance. If we were in that situation, we'd all be doing the same thing because the outlook didn't look good.

I really don't understand why people always think that the remake to Rec sucked. I personally believe that Quarantine is much better in quality, a bit in footage, the performance of the actors, and a also tiny a bit in plot. These people are probably just jealous that the Americans did a much better job at this, and are screwed-up disappointed just because they don't have the ability to understand English and have to watch a stupid Spanish-dubbed version of this. I know Rec sucks because of the lack of clarity on the matter regarding the infection thing. As you would see on the sequel of the Spanish "Rec 2", which in my opinion sucks as bullcrap, everything is justified by all sorts of superstitiously religious phenomena, noting that Spain is a pre-dominantly Catholic nation. In Quarantine its much different, and is much more convincing to believe in. They use Science as an explanation to what really happened, what with the fact that no one is "possessed", nor let alone in need of religious rituals and stuff. So yeah, I guess in conclusion I'm still firm on my stand that Quarantine did a much better job at this. On a final note, just so you guys know I'm not American (nor am I a stupid Spaniard), but I still rest on my judgment.
