Token black couple should not have been included in film
their characters were useless and their existence pointless in the story.

I just had the feeling that the black couple seemed so absent most of the time. But that might just be me.

I agree. Hollywood should cut way down on blacks in movies. Most of the time it is for token purpose.
In case like the Blades series, the black guy is the lead and is a meaningful character. But in so many other movies, the studios put them in just so there will be fewer complaints as to why there is no blacks.
