‘Cloverfield’ Sequel in the Works From JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot and Paramount

Great news and sure took them long enough!

wasnt the Cloverfield Paradox a sequel with the monster appearing

At this point, I'll believe it when I see it.

Two "kinda-sorta sequels/prequels, maybe?" have now gotten every fan's hopes up twice, and ultimately have little or no direct connection to the original.

I hope they finally do "officially" continue the story, though. Just not betting on it.

Not sure why it took this long. Cloverfield was an immediate hit back in 2008, especially in the volatile post-9/11 & economic crisis world we all lived in at that time.

Hopefully it's a real sequel and not just a soft reboot of the original.

The year is now 2024, and we’re over halfway through it. No sign of the direct sequel yet other than random news articles about “we’re working on it”.
