Those that aren't fans of the franshise, what do u think?

Ok for me going into the first movie I knew absolutely nothing about the GI joe franshise, I mean nothing! So I saw this movie as any other regular movie. And I actually loved it. So I'm curious for those who are like me and don't know anything about the characters and what it's really supposed to be like, what do you think?
Also even though I love the first one so much after seeing the trailer for the second one, I'm a little worried. Because basically no one from the first one is in this one, and with the addition of the rock and Bruce Willis this movie seems drastically different then the first one, so as a fan of the first one, I'm not so sure I'm ganna like this new one.
Now I'm just talking to those who aren't fans of the franshise, cause I realize those who are, hate the movie for so many reasons. So I'm just talking to those who saw the first one as just a regular movie like I did.

I am a fan of the comics but I wasn't when I saw the movie and I saw one episode of the gi joe cartoon as a kid and thought it was complete crap and I freaking hated this movie I like some things about it like some the high tech weapons (not suits that were made just to sell more toys) but everything else is horrible. The part I hated the most is when they revealed that the baroness was hypnotized, can't we get one god damn female villain in a super hero movie that they don't try to make redeemable.

I dug the movie. Good popcorn flick. I just would've called it something else other than G.I.Joe.

I used to watch the cartoon, had the toys and had a few issues of the comics.

Thought it would be a cool nostalgic flick.

It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen!
Almost made the Star Wars prequels look good.

I thought this was a really, really bad film. All I wanted out of this film was for the Cobra Commander to yell out Cobra, because that's all I can remember from the show. Didn't even get that.

Seriously. This film was horrible.

The Duke and Baroness-plotline was unbearable and I kept shouting at the screen for them to kill each other so we'd get them out of the way. I hated them, and I think we're supposed to like them (I think. Not sure. Film was so bad).

Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes plotline as well. Did not need the flashbacks. Made it all seem ridiculous.

All in all, terrible film.

I had no contact with this GI Joe stuff either, save a game from the 1980s.
So I watched this as a simple action movie, too. And found it awful.

I've seen a good number of cheap flicks and found some interesting ones, some hilariously bad ones, and lots of so-so films. I'm not complaining about the bad acting (it is bad), not about the bad CGI (which is cheap, most games have better animations these days) - and I don't expect that much intellectual dialogue from an action film either.

But... PLEASE, the script doesn't have to be THAT bad. Even as a movie for children (don't underestimate them) this is so stupid and bad and... most cartoons have better stories and dialogue!

The visuals are rather professional, and can gloss over a bit. Sound is OK, and helps too. But not enough.

One thing is especially irritating for me... if the sides are so obviously divided in good and bad - why then are "heroes" so annoying it makes you root for the "baddies"?

Avoid this waste of time.

I had some of the toys as a kid, but beyond my own little imagination I had no back story or experience with GI Joe. None of the characters resembled my toys so I didn't have any misguided associations that affected my opinion, and I can honestly say I hated every minute of that crappy movie.

There is nothing redeeming about it.
