Who Would Hang Out With That Mop-Headed Kid?
He's this little nerd running around with a video camera recording random fights
if you want to continue responding to me on imdb, lay off the drugs

its pathetic that your shallow enough to label him like that.

Ohhhh, go learn the difference between 'your' and 'you're'
And thank you for proving my point. It's nerds you and your friend over here that would think it's appropriate to stand there with a video camera while someone's fighting for his life. Don't like 'nerd'? Just delete it and interject 'dweeb, lame, or geek burger with cheese.' Everyone else does...

Hmmm...kid was more of a putz than a nerd or a geek, lol....no I wouldn't hang out with him. He had almost an obsession with Jake and Jake's fighting ability; maybe he should get a life of his own. Then again, he did have a car for when I'd need to bum a ride, if I was car-less like Jake ...
shareI think he was a gunerk... or a pereek... we should make up a new word for people who go around with video cameras all day and film. It's not an isolated incident. Look at Cloverfield. Look at Quarantine. It's becoming an epidemic, and it's getting out of control...

I hate to break it to you BUT that isnt so ordinary. People also carry cameras where ever they choose because its a hobby. I dont see why its a big deal for someone to carry a camera around with them. Capture the best moments if you have something with you.
shareI never worried about capturing the best moments, I just cared about living them. That dude was a dork...

People that point out grammar mistakes for an argument irritate me. NEWS FLASH NO ONE GIVES A FĂśCK But no one did hang out with him, his only friend was the new kid. And also he was super rich so he had some friends.

I'd hang with him. He was a good, loyal friend. He had some quirks, but so does everyone.

And what, you're the popular kid?..behind a net...

Never thought about it that way. Makes sense to me...

Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people

It's known as an audience surrogate. Mophead is like most of the movie's target demographic (whether they'd want to admit that is another matter). He's into MMA but isn't an expert, is nerdy enough to record a fight and post it on YouTube, and is decent enough to drop off the losing fighter home.
The better question would be why would Jake continue to hang around with Max when Max gets Jake into the majority of his bad situations throughout the movie...?

Your line made me laugh but c'mon, cut him a break, he's the new kid and Moppy's helped him out and doesn't everyone secretly want a groupie?
What hump?

So being excited and into something makes one a nerd? In that case, there's not a single person on the planet that isn't a nerd. Everybody has a passion, hobby, or something they dig and talk about a lot. I'd call the diet/gymrat muscle-heads nerds too, because they are way more obsessed with working out and flexing than this kid was with filming fights.
Anyone else find it ironic that somebody hanging out on the internet and posting on movie forums is calling a kid with a video camera and promoting fighting a nerd? Let's poll 100 people and ask them which activity speaks mostly of nerdness. I'm betting "internet and posting on movie forums" will win. I'm just saying.
And no, I wouldn't hang out with the kid, but it has nothing to do with how nerdy or uncool he may or may not look. The fighting scene is simply not something I'd be involved in, thus, no common ground. No reason to hang out with him.

IMDb used to be a cool forum, until a bunch of nerds jumped on the bandwagon. And yeah, the guy in the film, mophead, he was a big fat nerd, because he was irrelevant and proud of it...

What a *beep* ridiculous thread.
I like the assumption that the dumb-ass main guy and the toss-pot bad guy were 'cool'. Haha, they're MMA obsessed retards too, guys like that in real life are painfully boring.
What the film didn't show you is that 10 years on they're living in the back room of a gym like that black guy was all because they treated their homoerotic little hobby like it was the be-all and end-all. Nerd guy's probably wondering what the *beep* he was thinking hanging around with people like that in school and awkwardly blanking them when he passes them in the street.
LMAO at a world where nerds are more interesting than men who fight MMA for a living. Men with a lot of females hanging around, lots of parties and few brain cells. Boring? Never!
