1992 Dracula will always be the superior film

Just watched the trailer and it looks like a meh type film. And of course the movie has to have that "updated for modern audiences" crap in it. As a minority myself idc if Dracula was a European tale hell they already had diversity in the original Dracula with his gypsy servants. Woke Hollywood needs to learn the difference between genuine diversity and gimmick diversity. I'm fine with genuine diversity where it feels natural but this forced gimmick diversity really pisses me the fk off.

With that said though, 1992 Dracula will always be the superior film. Even with Keanu Reeves who comes across as Ted trying to do a British accent LOL!

Agreed.

Besides Keanu's acting, I also really dislike the Mina is a reincarnation subplot. But those two things aside, wonderful film.

reply

Yeah Keanu's acting is basically Ted with an English accent.

"So I like, totally go this foreign country to sell a house this vampire dude, and then later he tries to take my bodacious babe Mina away from me. Total bummer."-Keanu

How about "The LOST BOYS" or "INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE"??

reply

Those are good movies as well. Queen of the Damned should’ve never been made though if they weren’t going to use Tom Cruise to play Lestat.

reply

They both sucked. I doubt that the "The LOST BOYS" was even made to be taken seriously.

reply

Well, yeah. That's the best version of Dracula, IMO. Love it.

This might be a good film as well, though.

reply

Not a fan of the 92 film. Oldman was great, but I prefer Legosi in the universal Dracula.

Dracula 1992 is a great movie in my opinion. Haven't seen this one yet. I'll wait for it to come out on streaming. The trailer doesn't intrigue me enough to drive 50 miles to the nearest movie theater.

If you like Nosferatu type movies, check out Salem's Lot 1979. It was made for TV but has some of the best creepy atmosphere.

reply

I actually saw that one. SL was definitely a creepy movie and is up there as one of the best vampire movies ever made.

reply

I second that.

IF your talking about the one with Winona Ryder in it then all I can say is hell no.
They ruined it in two ways. 1st they turned this story into a romance between Mrs. Harker and Dracula.
2nd they ruined it's horror ambiance by overdoing it with special effects, which is typical of Hollywood.
I can't emphasize how this tendency tends to ruin the seriousness of a real horror story.
