Sometimes the rating is exactly right…

You really want to like it more but it just doesn’t satisfy. A rating of a low 6 is very accurate for this one. Its almost good but not quite. Some good stuff but a lot of bad stuff.

Has some great scenes but is entirely let down by the final act. Not to mention casting Jason Flmyng as the key villain was a terrible choice.

Yeah I felt the same way. Perhaps if someone else like Guillermo del Toro or James McTeigue sank their teeth into this, it'd pack more of a punch. I liked James Purefoy in the role though.

Been wanting to watch this for years cause James Purefoy. Kept seeing the cover. I gotta give it a shot one of these days.

If you're a sword and sorcery fan, I think you'll really dig it. If you're not a fan of the genre, it might be more of a slog.

It's pretty well put-together, though, has some good action, and takes itself seriously. It also looks great and the performances of most of the actors elevate the material.

The script is pretty bog-standard, though. It's not "bad," it's just not great.
