Jayden on the bridge... microcosm of whole movie.

Just realized in that scene Jayden was a stand in for the human race:
- murderous, violent and aggressive in the beginning
- defenseless and ignorant
- but after Klaatu saves him, then he says thanks and his attitude changes. He is open, peaceful.
- He says, "I don't know where I am, can you show me the way"?

Is that why Klaatu was going to blow us all away without question first? And is that why Jacob was played by a black kid?

reply

Klaatu had plenty of questions, he wanted to meet the UN first, also he got a report from his contact first.

It makes sense it was a kid, signifying how human civilization is in its infancy. However the kid probably should have been British, because Western civilization is responsible for the industrial revolution which led to pollution, deforestation etc.

... but I imagine you were probably being sarcastic.
