Where were the Twin Towers?
The movie begins in New York in 2000, but there was not even a single shot of The Twin Towers. I think the WTC buildings were a big part of the New York landscape prior to 9/11.

Notice how the Towers NOT being there has caused all this commotion.... when if the towers were there it would have been a lot easier and not nearly as controversial.
Miracle added the towers back in. Other movies should do the same. They are inviting all this finger pointing "should they, shouldn't they" by NOT doing what's right for the time they are harking back to.
Hey, cha-cha, this house has more features than a NASA relief map of Turkmenistan.

if they thought it would show controversy they should have never showed the skyline but they did, it freaked me out cus for a split second i thought wtf is that the twin towers and the kid drew plans going into it what a little sicko...then i realised it wasnt smoke plumes it was king kong...
shareI musta got the only Netflix copy that does have the Towers then? Judging from this thread. They are clearly there.

I'd have to go back and look (maybe when it comes out on cable), but my guess is they intentionally chose shots of the skyline in the year 2000 scenes that avoided a view that would include the towers.
shareThe school bus on the bridge scene clearly should have included the WTC towers. Check out these two photos, the first from 1983 with a view very similar to the second shot which was directly from the DVD.

I was disappointed there was no Director's Commentary on the DVD with possibly an explanation as to the whole issue.

The first pic is nice, but the second pic comes up as forbidden.
Anyhoo, and I'm sure to be flamed for my opinion, my thoughts are that they filmed it and didn't realize until afterward that they didn't have the towers in the shot as the bus was on the bridge, since it was supposed to be in 2000.
But then again, maybe they really did have some nefarious, evil plot and really meant to not even acknowledge that the towers ever existed. ::rollseyes::
IMHO, they simply filmed the scene and didn't realize that they forgot that the first part of the film was to take place before 9/11. Guess that would mean that they are only human and aren't perfect.
Peace y'all!
I guess they took it down because of copyright, because it's still in my ImageShack account.
Here is a slightly different angle from the movie.

I also have a discussion of the topic on my WTCinMovies blog.

So for the ten seconds they show the skyline you want them to graft onto the screen the towers to lend a fictional story more authenticity?
