Worst Oscar win in history
Not only was it an absolute fraud, but the actual work that she did is terrible.

sharePretty sure Reese Witherspoon and especially Anne Hathaway were two of the worst Oscar wins in history.

Exactly.
shareSince when does a nod from the Academy mean a damn thing..?
Black Swan was a great film. Just watched it again tonight.. Worst Oscar win ever? Not even close. Not by a Country Mile.
Nonsense.
You've got: Jennifer Lawrence, Tommy Lee Jones, Marissa Tomei, Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cuba Gooding Jr, Mira Sorvino, Sandra Bullock. The list is endless. All far less deserving of an Oscar nomination, let alone win.
Take the actual physical work out of this portrayal (and I don't know how much was Portman's efforts and how much can be attributed to someone else - I'm certain YOU don't know either...unless you're Aronofsky!), her portrayal of a young woman losing her grip on reality was very, very good!
Do the P-I-G-E-O-N
lol what physical work?? She did zero dancing, it was all done by the double, and on top of that she LIED and said she danced in all the scenes.
shareWell you've purposely avoided the point I was making, but to discuss her performance rationally wouldn't suit your agenda - going by your posts on this board, which indicate something akin to a personal vendetta. She run over your dog or something? Lol.
She did none of the ballet work? You know this?
Yeah. I call bull sh!t.

The award is for best ACTRESS not best dancer. Her dancing didn't get her the Oscar. The dancing in this movie wasn't even interesting enough to get it consideration.
Plenty of dance movies with better dancing where the actors ACTUALLY dance don't get nominations (The Red Shoes, Mao's Last Dancer) no one nominated Portman because of the dancing in this movie. They nominated her for the scenes where she had her emotional breakdown. In fact the dancing was the weak part of the movie to me.
Never Drumpf! Never Hillary!
All the comments and reviews as well as members of the academy always pointed out her "dancing". It's what got her the oscar and it's a fraud, deal with it.
shareLawrence's performance in any of the 4 films she's been nominated for are leagues better than any of the other actors you listed. Not as good as Portman but still great.
~The insane are blessed in a beautifully twisted way~
Funny, I seem to remember her winning the award for her acting, not dancing.
There is no 'now', here.
Stop lying. The basis for the entire campaign was that and I quote "became a prima ballerina in 6 months", she's a fraud.
shareSo her dancing throughout the film, which has been proven to be mostly her, is something you care that much about to bash a breathtaking role? Ridiculous
shareShe didn't do the dancing.

She did MOST of the dancing, this has been known for quite some time. The fact that people even hold it against her is absurd. 80% is a solid number considering most actresses couldn't do any.
shareKnown by whom? There is NO way she could have done that because she has no ballett training.
'Ne cherchez plus mon coeur, les bêtes l'ont mangé.' Baudelaire
Except she did, according to the director, the editor and most of the actors involved.
shareYou become a ballerina with one year of training?? You guys really believe that? It takes years just to stand on the tops of your toes. Here's the real dancer:

No one is claiming she's a ballerina or even close to it but there are reasons why we can believe what she says may be true. First of all she was trained as a dancer as a little girl. She also danced in Garden State, or did you forget that? The Ballet in Black Swan wasn't as complex as Ballet in R.L. also. As well the 20% her body double probably did was the really complex stuff. Plus a movie can do multiple retakes. Portman if she did do the real dancing, she probably screwed up a lot. Remember, Richard Gear can't dance to save his damn life, but they made him look pretty damn good in Chicago in the tap dancing scene.
Never Drumpf! Never Hillary!
She didn't even walk like a ballerina, not to mention her arms...
Being a dancer is one Thing, ballet is another. With ballet we are talkin about up to 9 hours of raining per day.
RE Richard Gere:He didn't steal any credits.

She studied ballet. Chill out. Life is more important than who pretended to be a dancer in a movie.
shareso totally agree.
