This movie is an absolute mess.

You cannot have a character imagining things, implying it's all in their head and then having those same things be experienced by other characters and not have a resolution between those two facts. When you create a movie like this you are literally just wasting the audience's time instead of telling a story. Because it's not a story, it's mumbo jumbo.

Yes I believe "mumbo jumbo" sums of the film quite well. I hate how easy it is sometimes to just throw a bunch of pointless, surreal hallucinations & somehow it gets treated as high art. Mostly by pretentious people who think that anything weird and confusing must secretly be "genius.

The OP has made a reasonable point that deserves intelligent consideration, which is in short supply here. The forum is not only for people who like a movie to come on and praise it. It's also for criticism and opinion. Grow up, children.

I saw this film for the first time in many years last night. It strikes me as unintentionally comedic. That whole sequence of the main character in her bedroom at the end is hilarious! The main problem is the lead actress: she simply isn't gifted enough to pull off a scene like that convincingly. Also, her hands are too small and cartoonish.
Then there's the scene where she stabs the other dancer: atrocious acting from both performers. It looks more like sketch comedy than anything serious.
The film had alright production, but it needed to be put in the hands of a director with far better skill. At the same time, I believe he was working with people who didn't know what they were doing.
So yeah, a mess.

People were shocked at the visuals, but I think that was due to those people not being horror movie fans. My grandma watched the movie hoping it would have beautiful dance scenes. She didn't like it.

I'm a long time horror fan, I saw the ending coming.

What it did well was the stretching and cracking of the feet. The rest was just pretty shots of a woman going nuts. Not my bag, but it is what it is.

Its Natalie Best sorry you didnt understand it

Yes, I remember it as a barely coherent mess, nicely shot but hammily acted and only watchable as schlock. I’ve always intended to give it a second chance, but am never in the mood.
