Do you think the Night King can speak?
Would you want him to?
shareYes. And his voice should be dubbed by Harvey Fierstein.
shareThey said he won't ever speak. At least not English. The white walkers do have their own language, its supposed to sound like ice cracking when they talk.
shareI dunno. I try not ever take what the cast/writers etc say as truth. Why would they want to spoil their own show? It doesn't make sense. If I was running a show or movie, and I was asked such a questions, I would say whatever I needed to say to keep the surprise a secret.
Anyways, it's not really necessary for him to talk I guess. But if he has a confrontation with some of our characters I think it'd be cool to hear what he had to say.
He speaks by showing instead of telling, doesn't he?
I can see him speaking to Bran by maybe a psychic link but generally speaking it isn't required of him.
He controls the wights and wants to destroy everyone else.
What's there to talk about?
Very similar to what I was thinking - what IS there to talk about? The only thing that I would be interested in hearing from him would be his side of things, and dare I say "feelings", on being stabbed by the Children of the Forest, and a deeper reasoning on the "why" of it all.
shareThe white walkers supposedly have their own language of nails on a chalkboard type sounds that get compared to ice breaking, but I haven't personally read the books so don't quote me on that. In the show it seems more likely they communicate with each other mind-to-mind and never talk aloud. The producers have said they weren't tempted to compose dialogue for the Night King, so it seems likely he'll remain silent and mysterious. At this point it would almost seem weird if he opened his mouth and said something.
We don't know for sure what his goals are. If he wipes out all of humanity then there's no way to create new walkers. They don't reproduce on their own. What would he do in an endless winter on an empty world with just a handful of his fellow white walkers? Admire the snow for eternity? Usually when you tear down one world order, it's to create a new one.
If this is the same guy the Children turned thousands of years ago, seems like he got cursed. He probably wants to rest/die, but can't until he completes his mission.
That's how the books described their language, like ice cracking. We may have only heard something like that once in the show, and a couple other times they made like a high pitched hissing sound. The way the show saw the white walkers has changed a couple times since season 1.
How has it changed?
shareI'm referring more to what they look like and what they can do. The first season or 2 they were just some dudes with masks, later seasons when they were featured more, they added some extra prosthetics to their heads and bodies.
And now they are able to do this: https://youtu.be/F0w0EqKfij8

I think it went wrong because they did it against his will. The last thing he did as a human before he got stabbed was to try and fight back.
Benjen's case was different because he was dying and they used it to save him.
Would you want him to?
Yes, like Ru Paul!
