So little time left. So much time wasted.

Season 8 only has 6 episodes. I heard each would be over one hour to make up for the fewer episodes, but that was not true. Episodes 1&2 have been one hour each.

AND ... No one died (except that stupid kid we saw once). Two hours of reunions and dragon roller coaster rides.

The only good moments were the knighting of Brienne and Sansa's reunion with Theon (that felt real to me).

You have a collection of some of the greatest characters ever written and some of the finest actors in the world, and D&D have no idea what to do with them.

Has Tyrion sucked for a few seasons? YES, because they don't know what to have him do.

What have the following excellent characters done lately? The Hound, Davos, Sir Jorah, Missandei, Varys? Nothing. Background extras.

My hopes were sky high for Season 8, but I can see that disappointment is on the horizon.

I loved seeing all of these great characters interacting with each other. I enjoyed all the reunions.

A lot of them could be dead next week. Glad to see them all have their possible last quiet moments this episode. I thought it was very entertaining.

I think this season has been really good so far. I'm sure next week will be the action and death with the war, but I enjoyed the calmness and tension of tonight's episode before everything gets out of hand next week.

Reality is they could have done all these reunions in the first show, but they are stringing it out much longer than was necessary. The only reason that you would do that is that you don't have enough story to do the full 6 shows without padding it.

The two scenes I adored were Brienne being knighted, which brought a tear to my crusty cynical old eye, and Sansa and Danerys having a little heart-to-heart chat.

Unfortunately, Brienne being knighted probably signals an end to her role.

reply

I liked the knighting scene. The other one was Tormund telling the story of how he got to be so strong.

reply

I also really liked Brienne being knighted, but yeah a lot of the rest of it feels like fluff. The first two episodes of this season just seem like a really big family reunion. And it's not even done that well for the most part. I used to love a lot of these characters and now it's like none of them are the same people they used to be. They're being shuffled around just for the sake of screen time.

But yeah, Brienne being knighted was pretty good, that was a good scene.

I did stop hating Sansa for a moment during her scene with Theon.

I enjoyed the knighting of Brienne. I actually enjoyed every scene around that fireplace. How cool would it be just to pull a chair up next the fireplace and drink some wine with these characters? They're all so scared and who can blame them for that?

Did enjoy the Sansa and Theon reunion as well, albeit it was kind of brief.

Its been a problem ever since the show outpaced the source material. They tried to keep with the 10 episode season at first, but after the disaster that was season 5, they decided to keep it super-tight. I think they would like it to unfold like seasons 1-4, but they just aren't capable of it.

reply

I read that they had less episodes in Seasons 7 & 8 because most of the budget went to special effects filming the war scenes. Last season actually felt rushed.

And no nude scenes with Bran!!! LOL

He's like the last major character on the show not to do a nude scene.

You hit the nail on the head here. The past couple seasons should have been edited down and (possibly) they could have made one good one.
