Melisandre tells varys..

"I have to die in this strange land, just like you."

What's does that mean?

reply

me think she saw the future in the fire and she saw her own death as well as varys for reason unknown, yet.

reply

That line tells me that she'll be back...and we'll probably see her naked one more time.

reply

> That line tells me that she'll be back...and we'll probably see her naked one more time.

You can tell all of that by one line?

reply

Well how many times have we seen her naked already? Seriously?

reply

Heh, hope we don't get a scene with her super-aged body and Vary's eunuch parts on display. Yikes.

reply

<< hope we don't get a scene with her super-aged body and Vary's eunuch parts on display. >>

REPORTED FOR BODY SHAMING.
.

reply

Yeah I could do without the super aged version of her body as well thank you very much.

reply

Who knows, she could've been saying that just to mess with him. And while she's powerful, and sometimes right, I think we all know by know that her predictions are really a coin toss.

reply

I guess he was planning to move to Essos at some point, because otherwise why would it freak him out?

reply

Really, you'd think his future plans would be to work as Master Of Whispers for the Targaryan monarchs for the rest of his life, and being buried with honors in the new Sept of Danerys.

So while it's not like she gave him bad news, but she's so freaking creepy that I wouldn't like to know that she's even thinking about me.

reply

Varys has made it clear that he's uneasy about sorcerers and the like; they're the only things that really get under his skin. It really wouldn't be too difficult for Melisandre to give him the creeps; all she has to do is say something that sounds vaguely foreshadowing. That other red priestess, Kinvara, already unnerved him by knowing way more about him than she had any right to know. The way Melisandre just talked sounded like she was hinting that his death may be approaching sooner than he'd planned.

Or I may be reading too much into it, and all she was saying was that she had chosen her life in Westeros just as he had.

reply

It would be like saying "I have to die in North America, just like you."

It's a pretty big place, so I'm not going to put much merit on her statement. Chances are Varys will die in Westeros, but he just as easily could have died in Essos.

reply

On second thought, my interpretation is that she was trying to rattle him. I doubt that after all her admitted "mistakes" worshipping the Lord of Light, that she would, premonition or not, actually return to the place she will die at.

reply

It might mean that he's going to fall victim to one of the wars. Or she was just fucking with him, because that shut him up pretty quickly!

reply

I wondered the same thing. he seemed to know what she meant, it must be a prophecy? But I didn't know what it was about.

reply

I think both will die before the end of GOT and at least 1 of them will die this season.
