Really good film, but be prepared
Be prepared for a pretty deep dive into a pretty sad story. Really it's the thing that makes this a good movie - the fact that it doesn't try to sugar coat anything about tragic grief.

shareCompletely agree. It doesn't sugarcoat nor does it become overly sentimental. It is about the loss of a child so it is of course going to be emotional but the movie was reserved when it should and only had emotional outbursts when it needed to (midpoint, low point and ending).
It doesn't attempt to make the characters happy because it is an impossible task to do realistically. Instead it just makes them content with each other. They don't learn to live without their son but they learn to live with the loss of their son.
Very powerful and gripping story. The actors were great

Yes, I think you have to be in the right mood to watch this type of film. I'm sure some people would label it "depressing", but it's realistic. In real life, people have to deal with this kind of grief.

Not at all believable, it looks like a college acting class, Nicole Kidman is more into herself playing this role than she is into really portraying the character. Most of the rest are amateurish at best.
