Probably her best role and lose to fucking Kate Winslet, HA!
They shouldve swept the awards and its truly pathetic that this wasnt even nominated for best director and film. Stupid winners this year and forgettable nominees.

I think they gave to Winslet because Streep has already won some Oscars before, and had been nominated for so many. Winslet was the fresher face.

Not necessarily youth. It's more based on who the Academy feels is "due" for a win.
Streep had already won a few Oscars before. Winslet had never won any. The Academy just felt they had to reward Winslet with a win moreso than Streep as a result.
Because she chews the scenery of every movie she has ever been in. I get so sick of her over stylized over acting. And so aware of her acting, rather than engaged in the character.
