P2P and Ephedrine based meth are two different drugs really

I wished they touched on this ESPECIALLY because Walt mentions chiral molecules(right and left side isomers)

Meth has two isomers, d(right) and l(left). The d is much more of central nervous system stimulant and causes greater euphoria and the l is more physical, increasing heart rate and blood pressure.

P2P way produces a half and half mix of the two isomers while the Ephedrine way makes straight d. So it's a bit of a different high. Incidentally, meth made by concentrating what's in a Vicks inhaler would yield pure l.

This is the type of insight that I have internet for. Thanks for posting.

It’s not really that important to explain it to the average viewer other than saying it’s more intense. In season 5 when Jessie suggests they go back to a pseudo cook cause a lack of methlymine. Walt just says they can’t go back, not really explaining why, but it should’ve been explained at least for the business aspect “our customers expect blue meth cause it’s our signature high which is more intense because (insert what you said).”

Later with Declan and his crew he mentions their purity is lower, lower yield, less intense high and they can’t get it blue so they dye it and then the classic coke vs some knock off.

I don't think it's more intense though...my dad was studying psychology and he had a book about addiction and it explained the difference between the two... P2P dope, because of the more physical stimulation due the the l isomer is more harmful to the body...but pure d isomer, because of the central nervous stimulation and excessive dopamine release is more harmful to the mind...more psychosis inducing.

Yeah I thought Walt said “intense high”, but he says “better high which means your customers will pay more.” Also I rewatched Say my Name and I was wrong, Declan and his crew don’t do a pseudo cook, same method as Walt, theirs just isnt as pure and not blue.
