One of the most appropriate and spectacular closing songs for a finale ever, in my humble opinion.
The lyrics perfectly mirror multiple facets/plot points/themes of the show.
I wonder if the creators always planned on ending with that song...

shareI watched (or read?) an interview with Vince Gilligan where he talked about how they came up with the machine gun in the truck idea and then they couldn't figure out how to pay it off. He thought about abandoning it entirely, but another writer said, "Well, we should really pay it off," and he agreed.
I doubt they knew the closing song.
Then again, who knows?
