Has enough time passed to admit it is underrated?

Yea, I had to watch it a few times too. Saw it for the 4th or 5th times last night and it just gets better and better. It`s filled with selfish, funny and obnoxious people who do these crazy things from start to finish. Love this movie now. The eye squint is hilarious!!! Pitt is brilliant. And Malkovich and Clooney are also fantastic. Give it a few watch people. It grows on you, believe me.

I saw this in the theater and didn't think that much of it. I thought it had potential, but went off the rails I guess. Maybe I took it too seriously. I don't remember, but felt disappointed. I watched again last night and really enjoyed it. Changed my score from 6-8. Definitely better with multiple viewings.

I'm in the same camp. Saw it on DVD a couple of years ago, and thought it was OK, interesting, but not great. And the plot made more sense and was easier to follow than I expected. I gave it a 6.

Then decided to watch it again last night, found myself cracking up laughing quite a few times, and was just mesmerized by how dumb the characters truly are. They aren't even smart people making bad choices, they are just STUPID. Loved it. Rock solid performances all around. Changed my rating to a 7.

It's probably in my top 5 Coen's films now, along with No Country for Old Men, Fargo, Blood Simple, and Miller's Crossing, which might be my favourite of all.

I think it is underrated at the moment, especially compared to other films rated higher, but it's the type I think needs to be seen more than once to fall under it's spell. And too many people might be put off by that first time to ever come back to it. Sadly.

Yes, I think you have to understand the aspect of misplaced paranoia here. It's like finding out at the end of Scooby Doo that it's not a ghost but rather people just screwing each other over simple things.

I dug it the first time but it definitely improves with multiple viewings. There's so much build up in the first half that is made funnier when you've seen the whole thing and you know what's coming.

I loved it the first time but I watched it at home and alone. Black comedy are not the best movies to see in theaters because it's not funny for everybody... A lot of people juste wanna have a good laugh whithout having to think...

I did see it in theatres, loved it immediately. It is an unconventional, dark comedy, but then again that's the Coen Bros for you. But I do agree, it's getting better with time. It's not often we get to see Brad Pitt or Clooney in a humorous role, so that's definitely something that makes it special. And yes, it gets funnier each time you watch it. And much like The Big Lebowski, I discover something new every time. I love movies that are able to do that. This certainly deserves cult status!
