Is this movie interesting if you are not american?
Just a doubt.. It wasn't for me.
sharewhy does it matter where you are from? surely anyone with political or historical interests would be interested,as is often the case, what happens in real life is often far more absorbing than a fictional tale, thats without going into the quality performances of the 2 lead actors
He was doing very well last night! Maybe someone around here gave him lessons!

Depends on each individual but since the actions that Nixon took (or the actions taken by any other US president) affects the whole world, then IMO it should be interesting to any person who cares about history and world politics.
i.e. As it was expressed in the movie Nixon intervention in Cambodia (and Laos) caused over a million of casualties just in Cambodia and perhaps half a million in Laos. Another side effect of that invasion to Cambodia is the fact that the Khmer Rouge may not have come to power without the destabilization of the Vietnam War, particularly of the American bombing campaigns to 'clear out the Vietamese sanctuaries' in Cambodia.
Therefore Nixon directly helped to create Pol Pot's reign of terror.
BTW not many people know this but Pol Pot (just like Saddam or Bin-Laden later) was actually an ally of the USA for many years. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were fiercely anti-soviet and anti-vietnamese therefore they were considered as "allies" of Washington. Pol Pot received all kind of political, military and financial help by USA, directly or indirectly, from 1979 to 1995. Did you know that?
Just like US government assisted Saddam or the Talibans and later, when it was convenient for Washington, they were "properly" demonized by spreading lies (WMD anyone?), mixed with true facts, in order to create the right conditions for a full-scale invasion that have already costed billions of dollars and most important: about one million of iraqi casualties (another parallel between Nixon and W. Bush).
Now Iran and Syria seems to be the next target, who knows if Obama is gonna be any different than his predecessors on this regard. I hope so.
Not interested yet?
SeisCinemaSeis,
I made this post a long time ago, but this movie still doesn't interest me.
I mean, should a movie about nixon and the british guy that interviewed him really interest someone that is not american or british?
I don't know, but I think the trouble is that the invasion of american movies around the world creates a hipe that makes people, that would never care about these interviews, to consider this movie interesting.
Because of your nickname, I suspect you may be brazilian. In Brazil, 99% of the movies people watch are american movies. Even if you want to buy a movie made in Argentina (a neighbour country) you may have a lot of trouble.
By your post you would be in no way interested about a movie centered in the interview of a Bolivian president in march of 1976 after some bolivian scandals.
I suspect the german, british, american guys that replied this post also don't care about the bolivian president. Maybe they don't even know where Bolivia is, much less who is the president I'm talking about (Actually, I dont know either).
