I haven't seen every episode, but it seems to me Kenny has absolutely zero redeeming features. Just wondering if anyone can tell me of any other TV shows with similarly narcissistic and egotistical main characters.
The main characters in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are ass holes for the most part. Mostly not as brazen as Kenny Powers can be, but they have their moments for sure.
Yea, KP is a whole different breed of ass hole from the Sunny crew, and it's more impressive with his character that you actually still love and root for the guy, hehe.
But the It's Always Sunny guys and gal are NEVER going to learn either, yet I rarely root for them...maybe Charlie...sometimes. Which truly shows what's so amazing about Eastbound and Down, Danny McBride and Jody Hill are so damn good at making you route for these losers and ego maniacs. And they really make the show feel cinematic and epic which is awesome.
Are you high? Tony Soprano had very redeeming and human qualities outside of his business. KP is an *beep* and mired in denial about his douche factor.
Jesse-Breaking Bad, hard not to root for him even though he was a meth head, generally a drug addict, and drug cook and dealer. And murderer... But in the end has a heart of gold.
Is Hannibal really redeeming on that show? I haven't watched it but I've always thought of Lecter as a thoroughly awful, awful human being. Essentially a sociopath with certain weaknesses (people like Clarice). P.S.- you think they'll end that show with Clarice Starling visiting him?
The three characters on Trailer Park Boys are hilarious and stupid but also redeeming and heartfelt in their own weird way. I guess the four main characters on Seinfeld, they're pretty self centered but it's hard to hate them. And lastly, Michael on The Office-homophobic, racist, sexist, and everything else in the book, yet it's all due to him being incompetent and idiotic, he's absolutely lovable and means well.
Can't agree on Jesse. As annoying as he could be he was constantly in turmoil over his actions and the effect they had on people around him, wasn't he?
I never really got into the show, but I'd say most of the main characters in The League are (intentionally) unlikable people. Kenny Powers looks like a saint compared to one of the supporting characters (Rafi) who is really over-the-top.
lol Rafi is just plain frightening, sneak into your house and cut you in your sleep frightening. The sort of person one distances oneself from at the earliest diplomatic opportunity in real life.
The big difference is Kenny has friends and hangers on who are at least partially and sometimes fully convinced of his worth, David Brent is completely isolated and alone in his delusion.

Very true. The thing is, they are both excellent shows.
