I'm sorry, but where do you see all of these "1 day love stories"?
I don't believe that they have been common in Hollywood for a very, very long time.
And today, even Disney (who seem to have an unfair reputation of relying on that trope) will mock the concept.
So I don't get how anyone could be sick of it...
Now, it is true that this franchise is an interesting exception to the modern trend of mocking "love at first sight".
It is a series of relatively recent movies, where the "zing" is an important theme in at least two installments.
However, it is about monsters and who says that they can't know who their soulmates are within only one day?
It is not about and never was about how relationships in the real world work...
What I really like about "Hotel Transsylvania" though is Dracula's and Mavis's father/daughter relationship.
It is really just as touching as the ones from the Disney Renaissance movies, and that is saying something.
There are some cute scenes between Mavis and Jonathan too, which I won't deny.
But it's the father/daughter scenes, which I loved the most about this particular story.
