This movie breaks my heart
I think it is so touching how Diana's imagined life is, more than anything, a tribute to Maureen. Diana chose to live her life exactly the way Maureen had planned on, even though Diana swore she would never live like that.
But what breaks my heart the most is that Adult Diana tries SO HARD to live her life and enjoy herself, but can't get past her depression. It's so sad to watch.
Adult Diana so desperately wants her daughter to love her... she so desperately wants to help out the failing student... she so desperately wants to come to terms with the school shooting... but she can't.
It just makes her death that much more sad... that no matter if you related to the Diana character or not, she was so full of life and had so much going for her and it was all taken away.
I seriously cannot watch this movie without bawling through the entire last 20 minutes or so.
