This movie breaks my heart

I completely agree with everything posted here.

This movie makes me so sad, since I can relate to both sides of Diana, it just makes this movie really sad for me, and I can't watch it, without bawling my eyes out for the last half hour or so.

i believe that we can be extraordinary together.

this is the first post i've read about this movie i totally agree with. i cried off and on during the entire movie and started getting a headache. i loved this movie but it was sooooooo sad. it forces you to think about things you don't want to imagine and who you really are and what you'd really do if in a similar situation.
the whole thing about her bio teacher really struck me as well.

This is just my opinion. I just saw this movie and had to watch the ending twice and i also watched the alternate ending, which explained the story better. What I got from this movie is the bond of friendship. I feel that Diana looked at herself and looked at Maureen, a friend that she loved and made the unselfish act of sacrificing herself. She knew that there was good in Maureen. She know the mistakes she made in her life, she was kind of punishing herself, by the things she did as a young adult. The sleeping around, the crush on the professor, these things in my opinion are a cry for help. So, she gave up her life maybe because she thought she wasn't worth it and Maureen, who was good could have a chance at happiness. The flash forwards are what could have been if she hadn't but she would have never been happy even if she had lived.

Amazing movie, this is so unfair that it has such a low rating here, but anyway - who cares. I'm glad I've seen it

Really enjoyed the movie. (maybe because I'm in my 20's?) it made me reflect on life in general and different tragedies. the ending of the movie killed me. watching the bathroom door slowly go shut knowing what was going to happen to them? I never saw the twist at the end coming. I also love the song "Ordinary day" by James Horner that I Bought it on i-Tunes.

This movie is totally heartbreaking.
I watched it with my best friend who is like Maureen but less religious and Me definitely being more spontaneous like Diana, we totally related.
When i realized this movie was about a school shooting it totally hit home and i struggled with finishing it. Columbine is my backyard and my high school and seeing the terror that happened there become so visually real on my t.v. was heart breaking enough. Plus Diana's struggle with depression was almost too much to watch altogether.
This film is beautifully filmed though.
Inspiring. It was like watching poetry come to life.
It deserves more credit.
great acting too. those girls were genuine friends.

Yeah but!! She couldn't have done any of these things that make you sad because she was shot dead as a teen!!!!

I also cried the second time I watched it, when I understood it better, when Diana dove into the pool after and was holding onto the side with one hand, and gently touching her abdomen with the other. If you listen carefully, you can hear what sounds like fetal heart sounds. It's like she realizes at that moment that there is life inside her. Then when she tells Maureen that she doesn't think that her heart is her strongest muscle...and completely proves that wrong when she gives her life for Maureen's.
Very complex movie, several great layers, and well worth watching.
