Too edgy and too smart for the average TV audience.

This show was wonderfully acted, intense in many places, well cast, and it just simply went over most people's heads. It wasn't gritty or set in space and the themes of terrorist attacks and zealous religion really turned off a lot of American viewers and that's sad because we should be able to have shows that can show those things or talk about those things without being people so sensitive. I remember TONS of newspapers and magazines saying 'how dare they' or 'this is offensive' when the show came out due to the kids who suicide bombed the train. It's disgusting people lambast entertainment because something within it offends them. This show was *beep* ART. Every episode was good and for most people who say it was 'slow', so what? Game of *beep* thrones is slow. Walking dead is HELLA slow (almost nothing happens in most of the episodes), people just wanna hate on something because it's not what they expected and get too stuck in the linear mindthink and it sucks because this show was as good (if not better) than BSG as a whole and I *beep* LOVE BSG. This should have had at LEAST two seasons greenlit before even filming and sometimes Syfy, you gotta take a profit loss in order to pump out some *beep* gold, all the channels and studios do it now and then, you can make up the difference with your *beep* WWE money.

Good post electron but we shouldn't single out viewers from any specific nationality.

There are two major reasons why the show failed to last longer than 14 aired episodes.

1. The show was simply not what the majority of the BSG fans wanted or were expecting. BSG from the very beginning had a very compelling story hook and it had action. Caprica started off extremely slow and in my opinion it meandered too much into the "family drama" side of the show. It was too much soap opera and not enough sci-fi. Let's face it, the success of Caprica hinged on being able to retain the majority of the fans of BSG. It failed to do that.

2. SyFy made the boneheaded decision to air the show on Tuesday nights which meant it would be competing with shows on the major networks (CBS, Fox, NBC, etc.). The show should have been aired on Friday nights or Sunday nights just like BSG.

Yes. Making a show which spent half it's time dealing with angsty unlikable teenage characters was a really edgy move. The intelligence of which flew right over most people's heads...

Yeah I think i tried the first episode and it was just too slow for me. I was curious about the backstory to BSG but maybe it would have been good if they had started on Kobol.

The main issue with Caprica that I find is that as awesome as Bear McCreary's music is, the same one or two songs are very repetitive in this show. They kept using the main theme for just about every other scene in the show, or remixes of that main theme. A few more original tracks would have definitely helped.

BSG 2003 series had a similar issue by always playing 'Head Six' theme whenever we see Gaius and Six talking with each other, the other being that song that plays everytime the scene changes to the Cylon basestar, again, an awesome song but way too repetitive. Variety is key. Don't overuse awesome music!
