The cancellation of 'Eureka'

It's no wonder that both the sci-fi channel and nbc are doing so poorly when the cancel shows like this. Eureka was a great show. Poor choice nbc, poor poor choice.

When they cancelled Farscape i stopped watching Sci-Fi

its been one let down after another with this channel; pushing the reality programming, wrestling?!, renaming the channel to siffy..

Ive come to the realization that anything inventive, different or remotely interesting will be cancelled..

reply

they could have done it like Dr who...if they needed to save money...just make the season like 10 or 12 episodes...like they do with those UK shows...only problem is it a long wait for the next season to start

NBC <> BBC

BBC is supposed to nurture creative talent that is not going to get it right first episode or even first serires

When Terra Nova got cancelled I stopped watching TV alltogether.

So I agree in full good shows are cancelled while the brainmush shows like Family guy are allowed season after season...And not to mention all the reality shows.

reply

I watched Terra Nova for one episode and lost interest, cliche driven show. They were banking on Stephen Lang to carry the show until they could develop it properly but the ratings weren't there.

I'm loving Eureka, I'm streaming through it now. It's an ingenious concept to make a sci-fi quasi-comic show. And it works very well. I'm sad that its been cancelled but maybe, like Star Trek before it, it will have a life of its own.

Anything can happen...after all Colin Ferguson and William Shatner are both from Montreal.

TN got more interesting as it went on, true had it been allowed more episodes to flesh out...

I agree about Ferguson.

See it from the "bright" side had it been owned by FOX then it wouln't have made it past first season.
But I agree it could have definitely gone for a couple more seasons to me it never got boring.

It was OK.

Good actors, decent dialogues. On a personal level, good stories.

The only problem was the amount of suspension of disbelief one needs to watch this.

I mean even perfectly normal reallife events like the birth of a child are handled in a completely unrealistic manner. No water ever came, the child is somehow already clean and clothed, and there is no umbilical cord or placenta either. Oh, and the whole thing was over in minutes. All without a doctor present and without any hospital environment either. What the heck ?

Eureka and Warehouse 13 were the main reasons why I watched the Scifi channel back then. Never got interested in the Stargate franchise and Battlestar Galactica until years later. Since those shows ended, I never really bothered to watch the Syfy channel again until The Expanse and The Magicians came on.
