Had there been a 3rd film

what could they have done to boost the series after the 2nd film? (like Roger Moore 007 after Man with the Golden Gun underperformed they came back with the biggest and best Bond ever)

-got McQuarrie back (or if not maybe a superior Bond director like Martin Campbell)

-hired a big action name for the villain, someone Cruise hasn't starred with before for audiences to get excited for him to face off against like Arnold, Stallone, Bruce, Travolta, Cage, KRussel, Brosnan

-gone back to the gritty feel of the 2012 film, except more like an 80s action film over the 70s Dirty Harry feel (JR:NGB was like a lame 90s thriller)

-gone R rated (not PG13)

1 The Spy Who Loved Me IS the biggest and best Bond ever! My favorite too!

2 Your list of ideas is excellent. But I would stress a solid script (this one was great, balancing the investigation with the action), better rhythm, and more character development.

3 I wish they made a 3rd one like that.
