The guy legitimately scared me (which never really happens in these action movies). He exuded pure evil - not even by choice, like it was just his nature. I'm trying to think of another equally convincing antagonist. And he is primary a director not even an actor. Definitely Bond villain level, wasted here.

sharehmmm. I actually found him terrible. Seemed like way over the top acting and dialog -oooh creepy weird guy tells stories no one cares about his past to SEEM evil. And didn't really DO much of anything bad. Kinda wondered why his minions even respected him? Why? because he chewed his fingers off? SHOW me, don't TELL me he's SOOOOO bad.
Yeah, he LOOKED creepy like a walking dead guy, but didn't seem menecing at all to me. YMMV
Interesting. This makes me think I may be subconsciously socialized to equate old men having German accents with an irrational fear. I don't get this reaction in real life, just movies. I think not though... it wasn't just the accent, his over the top delivery and demeanor made my skin crawl.
He operated in the shadows, but motivation wise you could see where he was coming from: had a horrible life and evil to the core.
hahaha naw. your first gut reaction too him makes the movie fun for you. roll with it.
I just got a different reaction. :) neither of us is right or wrong, just different views. which is okay. but, in the internet world, we feel like we are all supposed to agree on everything, or some such nonesense. We are all different and always will be. :)
I'm glad you were able to get the vibe you did. And I wish I could have gotten that vibe, but I just didnt feel it, and thus he was an odd character as a super master mind villian guy.
