For me it’s- • “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” • “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” • “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas” 2000 • “The Santa Clause” • “Scrooged” Bill Murray is awesome! • “Home Alone” • “Elf”….hey, I liked it. • “A Christmas Story” you’ll shoot your eye out! • “The Santa Clause 2” • “Christmas with the Kranks” not super funny but I enjoyed it. * "Ernest Saves Chritmas"....
These aren’t necessarily in order.

Prancer Here Comes Santa Claus One Magic Christmas Santa Claus: the Movie All I Want for Christmas I can't recall the name, but it's one with John Denver where he goes into this small town in Colorado where everyone still writes to Santa. Elf Muppet Christmas Carol The Little Match Girl (made for TV movie with the little girl from "The Cosby Show") The stop-action movies Mickey's Christmas Carol
It's hard for me to not like a Christmas movie. To manys shock, I didn't really care for The Christmas Story. I won't say I disliked it, but it wasn't my kind of movie.
Here are some of my favorites: Jingle all the Way The Grinch The Santa Clause and its sequels All the Disney Mickey Christmas movies Christmas Vacation (You gotta love Cousin Eddie) Jack Frost Polar Express Christmas Shoes This isn't really a Christmas movie, but Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe The Nightmare Before Christmas I also like to watch Edward Scissorhands for Christmas
I'm sure I missed a bunch, but you might get the idea.
GET WITH REALITY... Most christmas movies are of such poor quality. The hollywood fatcats think that just because people are more compassionate... well thats a bit over board, lets say... slightly less uncompassionate during this time, that we will watch anything to make us feel more warm and fuzzy in side. all these movies do is make children see what chrismas is "supposed" to be like, as portrayed in films such as these, with a huge house, a complete family (ie. mum dad 2 kids and a dog) gathered around a huge tree, perfectly decorated which is spilling out the room with presents, which OF COURSE are exactly what the children have asked "Santa" for.The majority of Kids (with the exception of the hiltons or the royal family) are instantly set up for disapointment. i remeber that i was after seeing these films when i was younger, watching them on christmas eve and go to sleep that night, hoping for a "christmas miracle". One particularly bad example of this is "jingle all the way" with Arnold Schwartzinegger. the dad bends over backwards to get his kid this sold out toy which, eventually, the kid doesnt want. In my childhood, my parents could not often afford such things, when i did eventually get them, they were either "uncool" or i lost interest, as kids do. i dont resent my parents for a second, rather these films that got my hopes up only to bet let down. Thanks hollywood...
You're right, Ginzo. There are a lot of kids that get very little or nothing for Christmas. That breaks my heart. I do what little I can by donating toys to several organizations that provide a Christmas for those that won't normally get one. I know reality sucks a lot of the time. I still love holiday movies. They do make me feel all warm inside; they make me cry; and they make me laugh. Like all movies, they take me away form the harsh reality of the real world for a little while. I hope most can find a little joy or humor in whatever Christmas/holiday movies they watch.
I don't think that anyone has mentioned "The Bishop's Wife" with Cary Grant as an Angel and David Niven as the Bishop. The Bishop wants to build a Cathedral, but it ends up that they use the money to help the poor. It's not your typical Christmas movie.

Okay so i myself am a huge fan of christmas films old and new, i have been reading through the post thats have been added to this thread, and noticed that some one said that christmas movies are bad and give out what might be described as bad examples, and do not consider the current situations of all children / familes (i apologise in advance if i have picked up the wrong end of the stick when reading the reply).
I have to say that i would disagree with people who might consider some christmas films to be classified as setting a bad example, not being sensitive to other people needs, as i think that some of the christmas films are made to get people thinking...not just about christmas and presents but the underlying meaning of christmas...family.
Yes some films like Jingle all the Way show someone looking for a toy which is sold out, and this could be seen as harsh for those families who cannot afford a toy...but let us remember what happens at the end of the film...when the child discovers his father is "turbo man" the toy no longer becomes an issue, for him the whole point was that his dad turned up at the christmas parade...the only thing that really matters is family.
So even though alot of christmas films do involve toys e.t.c each one has a message...that material things don't matter. Some films include:
Home Alone All i want for Christmas Jingle all the Way I'll be home for christmas Christmas with the kranks Elf
There all i could think of straight away. I know that this post doesn't fit in with the subject of the post but i felt, after reading an earlier post, that i had to say this....even Scrooge is a film with a meaning....hope, belief, frienship and family are worth more than money!

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation - I need to buy the freaking DVD as I could watch this anytime. I haven't seen Deck the Halls and probably won't, but it looks very similiar to Christmas Vacation
