Mr Brooks or American Psycho?

Which is a better movie overall please?

reply

I think they're too different to compare. Plus one is based on a book and one isnt, if i'm not mistaken. Both categorised by phenomenal acting though. I think Mr. Brooks was a better thriller, American Psycho was more of a character drama I felt.

reply

they are not comparable.american psycho is much more than a simply movie about a serial killer.it's a complex movie.mr brooks is kind of dumb.the plot is just way too unrealist and sometimes stupid

reply

Ok and AP isn't? AP is completely unrealistic b/c Patrick Bateman is a crazy narcissist who can't keep his *beep* together. Realistically, the police would have been on to him and he would have been caught. I thought the movie was stupid and too wierd. (Seriously, running through a HOTEL with a chainsaw screaming and NO ONE hears that? Come on!!) Mr. Brooks was much more methodical and calculating, far supieror to Patrick Bateman, imo.

It's stoopid to compare these movies- I don't even know why American Psycho would come to mind. I guess it's because they're both great movies. I'll say though that American Psycho is probably more watchable in terms of repeat viewing- I don't know if that makes it a better movie. American Psycho's got a younger vibe- that Dane Cook didn't bring to Mr. Brooks as strongly as he could have- without going over the top. The movies cater to two different audiences- which is the bottom line as to why they are incomparable.

If you had actually payed attention to American Psycho, you would know WHY nobody could hear him. It's much more complex than the typical slasher movies. I won't say the reason because I don't want to ruin the ending but everything is explained in the end, including why everything that happened in that chainsaw scene didn't seem realistic.

reply

Oh not another person that thinks every murder was in Batemans mind!?

NOT the point of the story (or the book) and totally missing the obvious clues that it is actually happening.

Mr. Brooks.

They're two completely different films. American Psycho is a satire and Mr. Brooks well...isn't.

I hated American Psycho. In fact, I'm not sure I made it through the whole movie. I liked Mr. Brooks a lot.

reply

American Pyscho, but this movie was very good.

American Psycho by far. Mr. Brooks was good and Costner did a good acting job, but I thought they made his character too likeable at times. American Psycho felt like a true serial killer film and Batemans character felt crazy enough to be one.
